"Now faith is being sure of what we hopefor and certain of what we do not see" (hebrew 11.1)

We  all talk about faith. But do we really know what is faith.."Faith only comes through learning, the learning of the word of god"(romans 10:17).And without faith, it is impossible to please god"(romans14:23).We cannot serve god without faith.I cannot  prove my faith  but I can admit that our faith can change our lives..I have seen miracles of faith  in the lives of people around me and even myself.we always wish to increase our faith.but giveup very soon! Starting our journey wth jesus requires that we immerse ourselves in hisword.(titus1:13).We must have a relationship with him first. If we seek him, we will find him.(1peter1:7)says" He will use trials to test  our faith and make us stronger."Our faith can do wonders in our lives. "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If you  have faith as a grain of mustard seed you shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. These are the powefulo words in mathew 17:20.It is not meant to imply a faith that can literally move literal mountains.Jesus promises that evena a little bit of faith, the size of a tiny mustard seed can overcome montainous obsctacles in our lives. We have a sin nature that holds us back.God isn't holding us back! We are!Jesus is telling us that nothing, no matter what, is impossible provided you have faith.
The bible gives us many exampes of people with faith in hebrews 11.The whole chapter teaches us about faith god's people had and how it helped them.

It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel's offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.(heb11.4)
Abel was the second son of adam and eve. He found favor in God's eyes by offering him a pleasing sacrifice. As a result, Abel was murdered by his older brother Cain.

It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying."he disappeared, because God took him.He was  a person who pleased God. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.(hebrew11:5)
Enoch walked with God. He so pleased the Lord that he was spared the experience of death.

By faith, Abraham when god tested offered Issac as a sacrifice.(heb11:17)..God was not trying to get Abraham to do something wrong. God does not want human or child sacrifices.
(Deuteronomy 12:31, Leviticus 20:2-5, Jeremiah 32:35, Ezekiel 20:26, Isaiah 57:4-5). But  he was asking Abraham to trust Him.God also used this , not only test Abraham but to be a testimony of his faith in God. Here we are about 4000 years later talking about the great faith of Abraham as seen through this story.God had already promised to Abraham that his seed would be multiplied through his son Isaac. Abraham trusted that even if he  had killed Isaac, God would raise him from the dead so that the promised nation would come through him (Hebrews 11:17-19).

It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise.(heb11:11)

It was by faith that Isaac promised blessings for the future to his sons, Jacob and Esau.

It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.(hebrew11:7)

It was by faith that Jacob, when he was old and dying, blessed each of Joseph's sons and bowed in worship as he leaned on his staff.(heb11:21)

It was by faith that Joseph, when he was about to die, said confidently that the people of Israel would leave Egypt. He even commanded them to take his bones with them when they left.(hebrew11:22)

Moses followed god's call  through great faith. He did not see himself as the man God could use to take on bigger tasks. However, through faith he led the Israelites as God desired.

Joshua led the nation of Israel as a man of faith.

Through faith Gideon, with a small army, conquered the Midianites.
There are many more people whose faith led them to do greater things..Our faith can also do wonders in our life.God isn't holding us back! But we are!
